According to Variety<\/a> <\/strong>with no specific details given, Tom Cruise<\/strong> is the latest name being rumored to play opposite Beyonce<\/strong> in Clint Eastwood<\/strong>‘s remake of A Star is Born.<\/p>\n

When Beyonce became pregnant in 2011, the film was put on hold. Now that a few months have gone by since giving birth to a girl, Beyonce is back in the mix of doing films, having signed on to appear with Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Cameron Diaz<\/strong> in Ryan Murphy’s <\/strong>musical, ‘<\/strong> One Hit Wonders.’<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/strong>Cruise is the latest amongst Hollywood’s leading men to be courted for the ‘A Star is Born’. The last name tossed around came in June 2011 when Deadline r<\/a>eported that Leonardo DiCaprio<\/strong> was in the running. They were drawing this from his recent outing in Eastwood’s last film, ‘J.Edgar’ <\/strong>and thought that the director would be able to convince him to do the film. There was also speculation in early 2010, through the LA Times, that Russell Crowe<\/strong> was once attached to the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The story about a an famed aging, alcoholic musician who mentors\/is schooled by and then finds romance with a younger female star was first done in 1937 with Janet Gaynor<\/strong> and Fredric March<\/strong>. Judy Garland<\/strong> and James Mason<\/strong> starred in the 1954 remake, and Barbra Streisand<\/strong> and Kris Kristofferson<\/strong> were in the 1976 version.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. will be producing the pic with Billy Gerber<\/strong> and Jon Peters<\/strong>, who directed the third version, serving as the other producers.<\/p>\n

Before Beyonce was cast in the film, it had been shopped around studios for years, with a Will Smith<\/strong>\/Jennifer Lopez <\/strong>pairing.<\/p>\n

Beyonce has proven that she could be a leading star and bring in audiences, having done so with her last film, \u2018Obsessed,\u2019<\/strong> which opened at #1 at the box office in 2009 with a take of $28 million despite terrible reviews.<\/p>\n

If Cruise elects to do the film, it would be his second musical. His next film is ‘Rock of Ages,’<\/a> <\/strong>which is a feature adaptation of the Broadway musical.<\/p>\n
