Warner Bros. is in the process of picking up the adapted screenplay Lore<\/strong>, from writers Cory Goodman<\/strong> and Jeremy Lott<\/strong>. Dwayne Johnson<\/strong> is attached to star in the sci-fi actioner, which has been described as “Men in Black with mythological creatures.”<\/p>\n

Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar <\/strong>(Jonah Hex, Bound) is producing along with Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert<\/strong> and Rick Jacobs<\/strong>. Miri Yoon, Ted Adams<\/strong> and Ashley Wood<\/strong> are executive producers. Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm<\/strong> is a co-producer.<\/p>\n

The description in the book states, “In times past, the world was full of mythical creatures long since held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the Shepherds’ line of succession is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back: will the Earth be ready for their return?”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>The seven-figure progress-to-production deal went down in a high-activity bidding situation once Johnson became attached, with Paramount and Sony also in pursuit.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. also has closed the deal for the underlying rights to the source material, the IDW book\/graphic novel written by Wood and T.P. Louise.<\/p>\n

Repped by WME and manager Dany Garcia, Johnson has been on a roll recently with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which has grossed $314 million worldwide since February, and Fast Five, which grossed $626 million globally last year. The actor has G.I. Joe: Retaliation opening in June from Paramount, and he is filming Pain and Gain in Miami for director Michael Bay.<\/p>\n
