Millennium Entertainment’s distribution arm will release Lee Daniels’ The Paperboy<\/a><\/strong> in U.S. theaters on Oct. 5.<\/p>\n

The film — receiving a 16-minute standing ovation when debuting at the Cannes Film Festival last month — stars Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, David Oyelowo, Macy Gray<\/strong> and John Cusack<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Millennium produced Paperboy and had shopped the movie to other domestic buyers, but ultimately decided to retain distribution duties.<\/p>\n

An erotic thriller set in 1969, Paperboy tells the story of a young man who returns to his small Florida hometown to help his reporter brother uncover the truth about a man on death row, who might have been wrongly convicted. In the process, he falls for the convict\u2019s lover. Conflict, danger, deceit, seduction and betrayal ensue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel so blessed that Millennium will be releasing The Paperboy in the U.S,\u201d said Daniels. \u201cThey have been with me since the very beginning of this journey and I know they will make sure this movie gets the best possible exposure. My amazing cast and crew worked so hard to make this project, and I am honored that Millennium will be bringing my movie to American audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paperboy is produced by Daniels, Avi Lerner, Ed Cathell III, Cassian Elwes <\/strong>and Hilary Shor<\/strong>. Executive producers are Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Boaz Davidson, Mark Gill<\/strong> and Jan DeBont<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Daniel and Pete Dexter wrote the adapted script based on Dexter’s novel.<\/p>\n

\u201cLee\u2019s unique filmmaking voice combined with this high profile cast makes for a must-see movie,” Millennium Entertainment CEO Bill Lee said.<\/p>\n
