Romeo Miller Talks \u2018Tyler Perry\u2019s Madea\u2019s Witness Protection\u2019<\/a><\/strong>By Wilson Morales<\/p>\n

Coming out this week is the \u2018Tyler Perry\u2019s Madea\u2019s Witness Protection<\/a>,\u2019<\/strong> starring Perry as the cross-dressing Madea, Eugene Levy, Denise Richards, Romeo Miller, Tom Arnold, Doris Roberts, John Amos, Marla Gibbs, Danielle Campbell,<\/strong> and Devan Leos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Madea is under pressure to refrain from being herself when she takes in a white family, who are in the witness protection program and hiding from the mob. The father of the family is testifying against his company, who ran a Ponzi scheme.<\/p>\n

For Romeo Miller<\/strong>, who plays Jake, a friend of Brian who was affected by the scam, the role offers him the opportunity to play an adult role that will hopefully bring him closer to being Hollywood\u2019s next leading man.<\/p>\n

In 2011, the son of entertainment mogul and entrepreneur Master P <\/strong>and nephew of C-Murder<\/strong> and Silkk the Shocker, was seen opposite Tasha Smith in the romantic comedy, \u2018Jumping the Broom,\u2019 and was also a contestant of season 12 of ABC\u2019s \u2018Dancing With The Stars,\u2019 where he is partnered with professional dancer, Chelsie Hightower.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In speaking with Blackfilm.com<\/strong>, Miller talked about his role in the film, working with Tyler Perry, and his venturing into the comic book arena.<\/p>\n

What role do you play in the film?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Romeo Miller:<\/strong> I play a character named Jake and I loved the role because it reminds me of the Will Smith character from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he was able to touch so many topics and make you laugh and cry at the same time. I think not just the fans, but Hollywood, will really be surprised with me playing this character. It has so much diversity in it and it’s a fun character. I think the fans will really appreciate it and the movie overall is hilarious. I think it’s the funniest movie of the year.<\/p>\n

What was the attraction to doing the film?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>Well, being from New Orleans, I’ve always loved Tyler Perry’s work. He sort of reminds me of my father, like what he did on the music side. His people actually came in contact with me for the movie and how could I turn that down. To be in a Tyler Perry film and a Madea film at the same time, I’m on board.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

How was working with Tyler?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>It was amazing just to see this man wears this many hats. He wasn’t just playing one actor. He was playing three actors, as well as being the director, producer, and screenwriter. It just shows that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible. To know the struggle he came from in the beginning and to inspire a lot of people now is amazing. If you dream big, you can do anything.<\/p>\n

How was working with the rest of the cast?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>We got so close, which is why I love this movie. Most of my scenes are with Eugene Levy and we became tight boys. We didn’t care about the age difference. Me, Eugene, and Tyler were like best friends on the set. Later on, I met Denise on the set and she’s a great woman and we became really close. John Amos is like a father figure. Everyone gelled together. We wanted to make this movie special because our chemistry was just as good on-screen as it was off-screen.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Was there any particular scene that stood out for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>One of my favorite scenes that was shot, and there were a couple, but if I had to narrow it down, it\u2019s my second scene in the film, and I\u2019m actually at Madea\u2019s house. I had met with Tyler right before and he had asked me about what I felt about the scene. He told me to just go with the flow and do what feels natural. We were able to make that scene a lot funnier on that balcony. That\u2019s what made the film special. Tyler let me be creative and if I had any ideas, he wanted me to let it out. That\u2019s why the movie is so magical, funny, and hilarious because a lot of things that were really funny were shot right at the moment. Some directors would probably edit it, but Tyler did.<\/p>\n

Last year, you appeared in \u2018Jumping the Broom,\u2019 and some folks say that you were the scene-stealer in the film. Have you been receiving a lot of offers since the film ended?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/strong>RM:<\/strong> Well, \u2018Jumping the Broom,\u2019 came to me after I had stopped playing college basketball. When I was playing, I wasn\u2019t able to do much and people were confused, asking, \u201cWhere did Romeo go?\u201d People don\u2019t understand that when you\u2019re a college athlete, you basically can\u2019t do anything else. With the NCAA rules and regulation, there\u2019s not much you can do to make money. After \u2018Jumping the Broom,\u2019 I\u2019ve just been staying busy. I went to school to master my craft. People wondered why I put my career on hold to go to school, and I said that money comes and goes. I made a lot of money at a young age. I wanted to get my education. I want to become the next leading man in Hollywood, not leading boy. I did an episode on VH1\u2019s Single Ladies, a guest spot on my sister Cymphonique\u2019s TV show, \u2018How to Rock.\u2019 I\u2019m on this new reality show called \u2018The Choice,\u2019 and I\u2019m actually writing this comic book called \u2018THE DREM,\u2019 which will be turned into a movie in the winter.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s \u2018The Choice?\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM:<\/strong> \u2018The Choice\u2019 is a dating show where you get to see your favorite celebrity in a blind date situation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Having played sports, released a CD, act in films, danced on TV, what else do you want to do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>My dad always taught me that life has no limits. That\u2019s why he named the record label \u2018No Limit.\u2019 When I was going to school, I was making music and acting, but I was also a regular kid playing sports. I was always told to go after all my dreams. Other than that, the comic book is getting of attention because of curiosity. I didn\u2019t release it, but put out a snippet a lot of people are asking about it. They are releasing it in the UK and will bring down to the United States.<\/p>\n

With Marvel possibly doing a film on the Black Panther, is that a role you can see yourself doing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM:<\/strong> I would love to. I remember that before \u2018Jumping the Broom\u2019 got released, there were some producers were talking about shopping the script to some people and I was one of the people they contacted and was asked if it was something I would be interested in. You never know. I definitely want to take in and be the next big action hero. That may be something that\u2019s cool.<\/p>\n

What keeps you grounded when you\u2019re not doing these projects?<\/strong><\/p>\n

RM: <\/strong>My family and God. I couldn\u2019t do any of this without the man up above and my family. The Bible says that if God blesses you, it\u2019s your job to inspire others. That\u2019s all I\u2019m trying to do in this life.<\/p>\n
