\u201cAmerican Idol\u201d winner Jordin Sparks<\/a><\/strong> and six-time GRAMMY Award\u00ae winner Whitney Houston<\/a> <\/strong>(The Bodyguard) star in the soulful drama SPARKLE<\/a><\/strong>, debuting on Blu-ray\u2122 and DVD, both with UltraViolet\u2122, Friday, November 30th<\/strong> from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The all-star cast also includes Carmen Ejogo<\/strong> (Away We Go), Tika Sumpter<\/strong> (Think Like a Man), Derek Luke<\/strong> (Captain America: The First Avenger), Mike Epps <\/strong>(Jumping the Broom), Omari Hardwick<\/strong> (The Runner) and singer CeeLo Green<\/strong> in the inspiring story of an aspiring singer\/songwriter (Sparks) who defies her overprotective mother (Houston) to form a musical trio with her sisters, only to encounter the temptations of success.<\/p>\n

Bonus materials on the DVD and Blu-ray include two featurettes. \u201cA Tribute to Whitney Houston\u201d<\/strong> features Harvey Mason Jr.<\/strong> along with filmmakers, screenwriters, and cast paying tribute to Houston. \u201cA Dream Come True\u201d features the filmmakers discussing the arduous, but triumphant journey of bringing SPARKLE<\/a> to the big screen. Both the Blu-ray and DVD also come with commentary with director Salim Akil.<\/p>\n

In addition to the featurettes on the DVD, the Blu-ray also includes \u201cA Sparkling Performance\u201d in which Sparks, Ejogo and Sumpter discuss the singing, dancing and glamorous costumes from the film.<\/p>\n

Synopsis:<\/strong>
\nSparkle<\/a> is a timeless story of the bonds of family, the trials of success and the power of music. In her feature film debut, “American Idol” sensation Jordin Sparks stars as Sparkle, a young woman whose big dreams seem almost impossible.
