Contrary to multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/strong> and EW<\/a><\/strong>, who had stated that singer-actress Jill Scott <\/strong>has landed a role in Woody Allen<\/strong>‘s next film. Blackfilm.com has confirmed that she will no longer<\/strong> be in the project due to scheduling conflicts.<\/p>\n

Had she been in the film, the Grammy winner would have been only the third Black actress to work with the Oscar winning director-screenwriter. With over 40 films that he’s directed, the only African American actresses cast in his films were Annie Joe Edwards<\/strong> in ‘Bullets Over Broadway’<\/strong> and ‘The Purple Rose Of Cairo’<\/strong> and Hazelle Goodman<\/strong> in ‘Deconstructing Harry<\/strong>.’<\/p>\n

Most recently, Scott appeared in the Lifetime TV film and remake of ‘Steel Magnolias,’ <\/a><\/strong>opposite Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye<\/strong>, and Alfre Woodard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia native will next be seen in an episode of Fox’s series Fringe<\/strong>, where she plays Simone, described as \u201can incredibly intuitive woman, an oracle-like person, who assists Olivia (Anna Torv).\u201d<\/a> That episode will air on Dec. 7<\/p>\n

Scott will soon starting her next film, David Talbert’s Baggage Claim<\/a><\/strong> with Paula Patton, Derek Luke,<\/strong> Taye Diggs, <\/strong>and Morris Chestnut<\/strong>.\u00a0 She plays Gail Best, the best friend\/co-worker of Paula Patton’s character.<\/p>\n

Her other acting credits<\/a> include HBO’s The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency<\/strong>, a guest stint on Law & Order: SVU<\/strong> and Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? <\/strong>and its sequel, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
