Omar Epps, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Mekhi Phifer, Keri Hilson <\/strong>to star in ‘Mooz-Lum’<\/strong> Director Qasim Basir<\/strong>‘s ‘Destined,’<\/strong> reports Shadow and Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Destined, a pivotal moment in 13-year-old Rasheed\u2019s life splits off into two possible outcomes: in one, he becomes an up-and-coming architect being used by cynical real estate developers to gentrify and destroy his old neighborhood, and in the other he becomes a powerful drug lord who rules his surroundings but may regret what he\u2019s built.<\/p>\n

Production is set to begin at the end of December in Atlanta, with Qasim directing from his own script, Tommy Oliver<\/strong> producing, and Hill Harper<\/strong> executive producing through their new production company, Confluential Films.<\/p>\n

Basir’s 2010 film, ‘Mooz-lum,’ <\/a>centered on an African American Muslim family whose lives are changed by the September 11 attacks and their aftermath. Starring Evan Ross, Nia Long<\/strong>, and Roger Guenveur Smith<\/strong>, the film won Best Narrative Feature at the 14th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Epps recently wrapped his TV series House <\/strong>after eight season and was seen in the VOD musical film, ‘You, Me and the Circus.’ <\/strong> Corinealdi is currently gracing the big screen in her breakthrough performance as the star of Ava DuVernay<\/strong>‘s film, ‘Middle of Nowhere.’ <\/strong>She recently started production on Bille Woodruff<\/strong>‘s latest film, ‘Addicted,’ <\/strong>opposite Boris Kodjoe<\/strong> and Sharon Leal<\/strong>. Pfifer’s last big film was Will Packer<\/strong>‘s 2007’s ‘This Christmas.’ <\/strong>Singer Keri Hilson<\/strong> had a cameo in this year’s blockbuster film, ‘Think Like A Man.’ <\/strong><\/p>\n
