Resident Evil actress Sienna Guillory<\/strong> will romance Idris Elba<\/strong>\u2018s troubled English police detective Luther<\/strong> in the drama series\u2019 upcoming third season.<\/p>\n

The BBC and BBC America co-production is readying a new run of four hour-long episodes which began filming last week. Per the BBC, this season puts John Luther back under intense pressure, with two conflicting crimes to investigate and a ruthless ex-cop determined to bring him down.<\/p>\n

Guillory will play Mary, a worker in a vintage clothing shop, who meets Luther by chance. In season 1, Luther’s estranged wife Zoe was killed by his former best friend, Detective Chief Inspector Ian Reed.<\/p>\n

Luther follows the life and unsettling adventures of Detective Constable Inspector John Luther, a brilliant (and slightly unhinged) London homicide cop. Over the course of two previous seasons, Luther has solved many a deranged murder case while repeatedly failing to cope with his own personal demons. Only through his steel-trap mind, knack for choosing the right friends, and sheer determination has Luther managed to avoid discharge and death. Now it looks like he\u2019s about to start the whole gut-churning cycle over again.<\/p>\n

Returning cast members include Warren Brown, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Dermot Crowley<\/strong> and Michael Smiley<\/strong>. Guest stars this season will include Lucian Msamati<\/strong> (Game Of Thrones) and Ned Dennehy<\/strong> (Tyrannosaur). Luther was created by Neil Cross<\/strong> who\u2019s also behind the upcoming NBC pirate series Crossbones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Guillory is known for her role as her Jill Valentine in the science fiction action horror film Resident Evil: Apocalypse<\/strong>, Resident Evil: Afterlife<\/strong>, and in Resident Evil: Retribution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Season 3 of Luther will air on BBC One in 2013; there\u2019s no date yet for BBC America. Guillory is repped by Independent Talent and UTA and managed by Inspire Entertainment.<\/p>\n
