Disney announced today that multiple GRAMMY Award\u2013winning superstar Mariah Carey<\/strong> has recorded the song, \u201cAlmost Home,\u201d<\/strong> for \u201cOz The Great and Powerful,\u201d<\/a> <\/strong>the studio\u2019s highly anticipated fantastical adventure, directed by Sam Raimi<\/strong>, releasing in theaters nationwide on March 8, 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost Home\u201d will be released as a single by Carey\u2019s label, Island Def Jam, on February 19, 2013. Award-winning photographer\/director David LaChapelle<\/strong> will direct Carey in the music video for \u201cAlmost Home.\u201d The two long-time collaborators are reuniting in what LaChapelle describes as \u201ca duet between Mariah and the movie.\u201d LaChapelle photographed Carey previously for album covers, and directed her in the music video \u201cLoverboy.\u201d Disney, Carey and Island Def Jam plan to launch a promotional campaign to support the single, the video and the film.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Almost Home\u2019 has a message that works beautifully with the film,\u201d Mariah Carey says of the song she co-wrote and co-produced for \u201cOz The Great and Powerful.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s a feel-good record, evoking the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he\u2019s hit the jackpot\u2014fame and fortune are his for the taking\u2014that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone\u2019s been expecting.
