When you have a hot film doing well at the box office, and if you have a good agent, your name should be at the top of casting lists for big films. Such is the case for 42<\/strong> star Chad Boseman<\/strong>. With ’42’ destined to make close to $100M at the box office, his name is starting to make the rounds in Hollywood as the new ‘It’ who can deliver.<\/p>\n

Just a few weeks ago, he was just signed to appear in the football film, ‘Draft Day<\/strong>,’ in which he will have a sizeable role opposite Jennifer Garner<\/strong>,\u00a0Ellen Burstyn<\/strong>, Denis Leary, <\/strong>Sean Combs<\/strong>, Terry Crews<\/strong>, and Chi McBride.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, Latinoreview<\/a> is reporting that Boseman is being looked at to play Black Panther<\/strong> in a cameo for Avengers 2<\/strong> and possibly a stand alone film.<\/p>\n

“The guy is starring in a box office hit, he is accessible to both African American AND mainstream audiences which is key. He is both lean and handsome, and according to some of the brothers I spoke to he is chocolate enough. That and the fact he is affordable and within the price point Marvel pays.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

All of this is just speculation at this point since no official offer or meeting has been made. Also, as the site mentioned, “Morris Chestnut made noise<\/a> a few weeks back on his twitter and facebook account talking about Marvel\u2019s The Black Panther and then it all magically disappeared.” <\/strong>No further updates has been made from Chestnut as if he were told to stop talking about the possibility of his candidacy for the role publicly.<\/p>\n

Folks in the African American community were excited when Derek Luke<\/strong> was cast as Gabe Jones in Captain America: The First Avenger<\/strong> until they saw the film and realized he really didn’t much to do or make an impact. Unless Marvel plans on making Black Panther as part of a larger project, it doesn’t make sense to have his character come in for just a cameo in Avengers 2. That’s waste of time for any actor to take the role. At least Anthony Mackie<\/strong> will have a larger role as the Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

With so many upcoming African American films coming out this year, any actor from any of those films, should any be successful, could be talked about as a contender.<\/p>\n

Until official announcements are made, everything is just smoke and mirrors…<\/p>\n
