Entertainment Universe<\/strong>, in association with Rhino Films and the National Hot Rod Association, announces the theatrical release of Snake and Mongoo$e<\/strong>, the much anticipated film capturing one of the greatest rivalries in auto racing history.<\/p>\n

Jesse Williams<\/strong> (Grey\u2019s Anatomy) as \u201cthe Snake\u201d and Richard Blake<\/strong> (Dragonball:Evolution) as \u201cthe Mongoose\u201d were honored to study their namesakes for weeks in order to bring them to life on the big screen. The film also features Noah Wyle, Tim Blake Nelson, Ian Ziering, Fred Dryer, John Heard, Ashley Hinshaw, Leonardo Nam, Kim Shaw<\/strong> and Julie Mond<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Distributed nationally through Rocky Mountain Pictures, Snake and Mongoo$e<\/strong> will open nationally theaters on September 6 on the heels of the National Hot Rod Association\u2019s US Nationals in Indianapolis, where special events will be held surrounding the film and the cars featured. The film will debut in cities coinciding with the areas where the NHRA holds its national events and heritage\/nostalgia races.<\/p>\n

The film tells the story of the groundbreaking accomplishments of drivers Don \u201cThe Snake\u201d Prudhomme<\/strong> and Tom \u201cThe Mongoose\u201d McEwen<\/strong> in the world of drag racing. While being fierce competitors on the track, the pair were close friends who managed to revolutionize entertainment sports marketing when they attracted Mattel\u2019s Hot Wheels Division as a sponsor.<\/p>\n

The film highlights the formative, dangerous glory years of drag racing during the 1960s and 70s. Prudhomme, a seven-time NHRA U.S. Nationals winner and four-time NHRA World Champion, and McEwen, an NHRA U.S. Nationals winner who\u2019s also held many prestigious titles in other national events, raced each other at speeds in excess of 200 mph for over 30 years.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThese guys regularly threw caution to the wind as they strapped themselves into untested racecars powered by volatile, explosive 2,000 horsepower engines \u2013 and they did it week after week. It took a huge amount of guts to do that,\u201d<\/strong> explains Writer and Executive Producer Alan Paradise<\/strong>. Their efforts lead to an extraordinarily lucrative sponsorship by Mattel\u2019s \u201cHot Wheels\u201d brand \u2013 a partnership that resulted in bringing the sport of drag racing to the mainstream, and revolutionized branding in the business of sports.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a complicated film to produce, not only because we had to source and integrate archival race footage, but also because we wanted original, museum quality funny cars and dragsters from private collections to appear in the film,\u201d<\/strong> continues Robin Broidy<\/strong>, Chair of Entertainment Universe and the film\u2019s producer.<\/p>\n

Vehicles included in the film are the original Greer-Black-Prudomme dragster from car collector Bruce Meyer, the English Leather Corvette owned by Don Trasin, and the phenomenal collection of dragsters, funny cars and iconic haulers owned by Don Prodhomme himself \u2013 who oversaw their restoration to their original glory.<\/p>\n
