\"\"<\/a>Coming out on DVD on November 13 from RLJ Entertainment is Home Again<\/strong>, a dramatic feature about three adults raised as outsiders from childhood and deported from Canada, the U.S. and London, England to Jamaica, where they were born.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Sudz Sutherland<\/strong>, the film stars Tatyana Ali, Lyriq Bent, Stephan James, Richard Chevolleau, C.C.H. Pounder<\/strong>, and Fefe Dobson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Between 1999 and 2001, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States passed legislation which mandated that any foreign-born person convicted of a criminal offense could be deported to their country of origin. This led to the expulsion and deportation of many who had left those countries virtually in infancy, and had no knowledge of the nations they were being sent back to. The blowback from this policy is the subject of Sudz Sutherland\u2019s gutsy drama Home Again.<\/p>\n

Marva, Dunston, and Everton grew up in Canada, the U.S.A. and England, respectively. Now deported \u201chome,\u201d each quickly discover a very different Jamaica from the idyllic paradise seen in vacation ads or from their vague childhood memories. Every day is a fight for survival in a place where family support, friendships, and shelter are elusive. Danger also surrounds them at every turn in a country that has the third highest murder rate in the world (per capita). Then there is the fact that Jamaicans uniformly blame deportees for much of their crime. Home Again follows the lives of three individuals that embark on a journey filled with great obstacles, but along the way they find the most human of emotions\u2026 hope.<\/p>\n
