Halle Berry Set To Star in <\/strong>Steven Spielberg’s<\/strong> <\/strong>TV Series ‘Extant’<\/strong>Posted by Wilson Morales<\/p>\n

Halle Berry<\/strong> will take her first major TV series role in \u201cExtant,\u201d<\/strong> the serialized drama from Steven Spielberg<\/strong>\u2019s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios that CBS greenlit in August.<\/p>\n

In addition, Berry and producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas<\/strong>, have entered into a two-year, first look production deal with CBS Television Studios.<\/p>\n

In \u201cExtant,\u201d Berry will play an astronaut returning from a year-long solo space mission who tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m always on the lookout for amazing roles, and when you see material that contains this strong of auspices, nuance and complexity, it compels me to run toward it no matter the medium,\u201d<\/strong> Berry said. \u201cFor five months a year, I\u2019ll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder of the year I\u2019ll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Berry had a supporting role in 1989 ABC halfhour comedy \u201cLiving Dolls,\u201d <\/strong>starring Leah Remini<\/strong>, before it was canceled after 12 episodes. Berry\u2019s breakout role in \u201cJungle Fever\u201d<\/strong> followed in 1991. She won a lead actress Oscar for \u201cMonster\u2019s Ball\u201d<\/strong> in 2002, as well as a lead miniseries\/movie Emmy for \u201cIntroducing Dorothy Dandridge\u201d<\/strong> in 2000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s only one Halle Berry, and we are incredibly honored that she has chosen \u2018Extant\u2019 to expand her illustrious career,\u201d<\/strong> Spielberg said. \u201cAs she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spielberg, writer Mickey Fisher, Greg Walker, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will exec produce, with Berry co-exec producer. CBS Studios International will distribute worldwide.<\/p>\n
