Following its surprising take of $30.5M at the box office for ‘The Best Man Holiday<\/a>,’<\/strong> Universal Pictures and Malcolm D. Lee<\/strong> are in talks for him to write, direct and produce another installment of the hit ensemble romantic comedy.<\/p>\n

Deadline reports that Sean Daniel<\/strong> is also in talks to come back and produce another film through his The Sean Daniel Company shingle. Spike Lee and his 40 Acres and a Mule company produced the first film, The Best Man, back in 1999.<\/p>\n

It took nearly 15 years for Universal to greenlit a sequel to the film that many consider an urban classic. With the whole gang (Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Harold Perrineau, Monica Calhoun<\/strong> and Melissa De Sousa<\/strong>) back, fans showed their appreciation by defying box office experts, who had predicted that the film would only make less than $20M.<\/p>\n

According to the site, none of the original cast are signed to do a third film, and if ‘Holiday’ continues to do well financially, each should expect a big pay day. Made for $17M, it’s assumed that the cast took a pay cut to do the reunion film.<\/p>\n

After nearly 15 years apart, Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Harold Perrineau, Monica Calhoun and Melissa De Sousa reprise their career-launching roles in The Best Man Holiday, the long-awaited next chapter to the film that ushered in a new era of comedy. When the college friends finally reunite over the Christmas holidays, they will discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited.<\/p>\n
