\"Gotham<\/a>Fox has released new images for Batman-inspired “Gotham,” which will air on Mondays this fall from 8-9 p.m<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before there was Batman, there was GOTHAM. Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world\u2019s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon\u2019s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world\u2019s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them \u2013 the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?<\/p>\n

\"Gotham<\/a>GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer\/writer Bruno Heller<\/strong> (\u201cThe Mentalist,\u201d \u201cRome\u201d), GOTHAM follows one cop\u2019s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. Growing up in Gotham City\u2019s surrounding suburbs, JAMES GORDON (Ben McKenzie<\/strong>, \u201cSouthland,\u201d \u201cThe O.C.\u201d) romanticized the city as a glamorous and exciting metropolis where his late father once served as a successful district attorney. Now, two weeks into his new job as a Gotham City detective and engaged to his beloved fianc\u00e9e, BARBARA KEAN (Erin Richards<\/strong>, \u201cOpen Grave,\u201d \u201cBreaking In\u201d), Gordon is living his dream \u2013 even as he hopes to restore the city back to the pure version he remembers it was as a kid.<\/p>\n

\"Gotham<\/a>Brave, honest and ready to prove himself, the newly-minted detective is partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue<\/strong>, \u201cSons of Anarchy,\u201d \u201cTerriers,\u201d \u201cVikings,\u201d \u201cCopper\u201d), as the two stumble upon the city\u2019s highest-profile case ever: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the scene of the crime, Gordon meets the sole survivor: the Waynes\u2019 hauntingly intense 12-year-old son, BRUCE (David Mazouz<\/strong>, \u201cTouch\u201d), toward whom the young detective feels an inexplicable kinship. Moved by the boy\u2019s profound loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer.<\/p>\n

\"Gotham<\/a>As he navigates the often-underhanded politics of Gotham\u2019s criminal justice system, Gordon will confront imposing gang boss FISH MOONEY (Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong>, \u201cThe Matrix\u201d franchise,\u00a0 \u201cHawthoRNe\u201d), and many of the characters who will become some of fiction\u2019s most renowned, enduring villains, including a teenaged SELINA KYLE\/the future CATWOMAN (acting newcomer Camren Bicondova<\/strong>) and OSWALD COBBLEPOT\/THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor, \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d).<\/p>\n

While the crime drama will follow Gordon\u2019s turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, led by Police Captain SARAH ESSEN (Zabryna Guevara<\/strong>, \u201cBurn Notice\u201d), it also will focus on the unlikely friendship Gordon forms with the young heir to the Wayne fortune, who is being raised by his unflappable butler, ALFRED (Sean Pertwee<\/strong>, \u201cCamelot,\u201d \u201cElementary\u201d). It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the young boy eventually become the crusader he\u2019s destined to be.<\/p>\n

\"Gotham<\/a>GOTHAM is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Executive producer Bruno Heller (\u201cThe Mentalist\u201d) wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the \u201cCSI\u201d franchise, \u201cNikita\u201d). John Stephens will serve as an executive producer on the series.<\/p>\n

Series regulars cast to date are Ben McKenzie<\/b> as James Gordon, Donal Logue<\/b> as Detective Harvey Bullock<\/b>, Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong> as crime boss Fish Mooney<\/strong>, Zabryna Guevara <\/b>as Captain Essen<\/b>, Erin Richards<\/b> as Gordon\u2019s fianc\u00e9e Barbara Kean<\/b>, Sean Pertwee<\/b> as Wayne family servant Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova <\/b>as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman),<\/b> and Robin Lord Taylor<\/b> as Oswald Cobblepot<\/b> (aka The Penguin<\/b>), and Cory Michael Smith<\/strong> guest-starring as Edward Nygma (aka The Riddler)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
