\"Mandela<\/a>Focus Features has acquired North American distribution rights to the action thriller ‘Bastille Day,’<\/strong> starring Idris Elba<\/strong> and Ad\u00e8le Exarchopoulos<\/strong>. The film will be directed by James Watkins<\/strong> from a script by Andrew Baldwin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bastille Day is a thriller set in Paris in which a rogue CIA must team up with an unsuspecting American con-artist living abroad to thwart a terrorist attack on French soil.<\/p>\n

Philippe Rousselet<\/strong> is producing the project via his Vendome Pictures banner, along with Steve Golin, David Kanter,<\/strong> and Bard Dorros<\/strong> for Anonymous Content. Principal photography of the film is slated to commence later this summer.<\/p>\n

\"Ad\u00e8le<\/a>Studiocanal is financing the project as well as handling international sales and will distribute the film in France, UK, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Elba has numerous films to his credits and was a double Golden Globe nominee last year for his performances as Nelson Mandela<\/strong> in ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’<\/strong> and his BBC miniseries ‘Luther.’<\/strong> He will next be seen opposite Taraji P. Henson<\/strong> in producer Will Packer’s ‘No Good Deed.’<\/strong> Exarchopoulos was the breakout star of the controversial but critically acclaimed ‘Blue is the Warmest Color.’<\/strong> Both Exarchopoulos and her co-star L\u00e9a Seydoux<\/strong> were awarded the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.<\/p>\n
