Very recently, The Source Magazine<\/strong> had the opportunity to interview Jordan exclusively about his role as Johnny Storm\/The Human Torch in the upcoming reboot of “The Fantastic Four” while he was promoting his partnership with AXE for their new Gold Temptation campaign.<\/p>\n

Set for release on June 19, 2015, The Fantastic Four<\/strong> also stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara<\/strong>, and Jamie Bell<\/strong>. The film is directed by Josh Trank, who worked with Jordan on ‘Chronicle.’<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was a surprise to many that the 20 Century Fox chose not to bring the cast or any footage to San Diego Comic Con given the that the film will be release before SDCC 2015. Mara tweeted out a pic from the party as production wrapped shooting in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Here are some highlights from their interview with Jordan<\/p>\n

With \u201cFantastic Four,\u201d your name was rumored for the part of Johnny Storm for probably since the movie was first announced. How much of a relief was it to actually be able to talk about the role when the cast was announced?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michael B. Jordan:<\/strong> Oh man! A huge relief. It was like\u2026walking around knowing that for like a year since me and Josh Trank, we talked about this when he first got the job. It\u2019s something that we tried to make happen. We knew we had a lot of obstacles in the way and a lot of mountains to move but, you know, for whatever reason things just fell into place and \u2026 Fox believed in the situation and believed in me and yeah, we got it done. So that\u2019s definitely something that me and Josh celebrated at the wrap. We were just like we did it.<\/p>\n

\"Josh<\/a><\/p>\n

When you said \u201cfor about a year\u201d does that mean you were cast in the role about a year ago but nothing could be said?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/strong> Not cast, but me and Josh \u2026 I was his choice. He wanted me to play the role and I wanted to play the role. So it was something that he told me around his birthday about a year and some change ago, right after \u201cChronicle.\u201d And it was just like cool\u2026let\u2019s try to make this happen.<\/p>\n

Can you talk a bit about the experience of playing Johnny Storm?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/strong> Yeah man it\u2019s been a lot of fun. Johnny Storm is such an iconic character. There\u2019s a lot of personality traits and things to him that people are really going to look forward to seeing. Got a lot of original Johnny stuff in there and then you have \u2013 not a NEW take but a fresh take. We have a different take on different things as well. I could go on and on about it but I think it\u2019s something that people will enjoy.<\/p>\n

\"Chris<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty excited about that. Obviously there were a couple of \u201cFantastic Four\u201d movies released within a span of 10-15 years ago. Did you use anything from Chris Evans\u2019 previous performances to kind of help develop your character at all?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/strong> Nah. It is a reboot you know, it\u2019s its own thing. It\u2019s its own origins story. I did get a chance to talk to Chris about it, I met him at this event and he was basically like, \u201cMan I can\u2019t give you anything.\u201d He said, \u201cYou\u2019re great, you\u2019re awesome. Just do your thing. And enjoy it. It\u2019s gonna be fun.\u201d That was just a really cool piece of information, words of encouragement from the guy who killed the role. He really did a really great job and hats off to him with how talented he is cause he\u2019s doing an amazing job with \u201cCaptain America.\u201d I really enjoy those films as well so that\u2019s kind of pretty much where that was.<\/p>\n

So I take it that after being Johnny Storm we could expect you to take on the Captain America role within the next 10 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan:<\/strong> You know they just made \u201cCaptain America\u201d Sam Wilson!<\/p>\n

Yeah, yeah!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan<\/strong>: That\u2019s funny. But I think Chris has got Captain America locked up. The role is in good hands.<\/p>\n
