Nearly two decades after Pixar Animation Studios created the world\u2019s first computer-animated feature film with \u201cToy Story,\u201d it revealed plans for Disney\u2022Pixar\u2019s \u201cToy Story 4,\u201d<\/strong> an adventure that returns audiences to the world of the studio\u2019s signature characters.<\/p>\n

John Lasseter<\/strong>, director of the original \u201cToy Story\u201d and \u201cToy Story 2,\u201d will direct the film, which opens a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the \u201cToy Story\u201d gang. The story was dreamt up by Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter<\/strong> and Lee Unkrich<\/strong>, the storytellers who have been the driving force behind all three \u201cToy Story\u201d films.<\/p>\n

\"Director<\/a><\/p>\n

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen haven’t been confirmed as of yet but they are expected to return and reprise their voice characters of Woody and Buzz Lightyear respectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love these characters so much; they are like family to us,\u201d<\/strong> said Lasseter. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what\u2019s gone before. \u2018Toy Story 3\u2019 ended Woody and Buzz\u2019s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another \u2018Toy Story\u2019 movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie\u2014and I wanted to direct it myself.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Rashida<\/a><\/p>\n

Writing team Rashida Jones <\/strong>and Will McCormack<\/strong> (\u201cCeleste and Jesse Forever\u201d) joined the project, and Pixar veteran Galyn Susman<\/strong> (ABC\u2019s \u201cToy Story OF TERROR!\u201d and \u201cToy Story that Time Forgot\u201d) is producing.<\/p>\n

Jones and McCormack previously wrote the Jones-starring indie romantic comedy\u00a0Celeste and Jesse Forever,\u00a0which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and nabbed a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay.\u00a0Best known for her work as an actress on\u00a0The Office<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Parks and Recreation<\/strong>, Jones\u00a0has also written an episode of the new NBC sitcom\u00a0A to Z<\/strong>, which McCormack\u00a0executive produces.<\/p>\n

The film is slated for release on June 16, 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n
