Deadline<\/a> is reporting that Mike Colter<\/strong>, who’s currently starring in the digital series Halo: Nightfall<\/a><\/strong> for Microsoft and Xbox Entertainment, is Marvel’s top choice to play Luke Cage<\/strong> in the Netflix series, Jessica Jones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Twilight<\/b>\u00a0screenwriter\u00a0Melissa Rosenberg as the show runner, the 13-episode drama, the second in a four-series Netflix-Marvel deal, centers on Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.<\/p>\n

The character has a romantic relationship with Cage, which is why his character will be showcased in 6 or 7 episodes of the\u00a0Jessica Jones\u00a0show\u00a0before leading his own Netflix series,\u00a0Luke Cage.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\"Krysten<\/a><\/p>\n

The site also states that Krysten Ritter<\/strong>, who starred in the short-lived ABC series ABC show Don\u2019t Trust the B\u2014in Apt. 23<\/b>, has been given the female lead role of Jones.\u00a0\u00a0She will next be seen in Tim Burton\u2019s\u00a0Big Eyes.<\/em><\/p>\n

Colter has appeared in numerous TV series including a starring role on\u00a0\u2018Ringer\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0and guest-starring roles on\u00a0\u2018The Good Wife\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0and \u2018The Following.\u2019 The South Carolina native played boxer Big Willie Little in the Oscar winning film\u00a0\u2018Million Dollar Baby.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>He was seen opposite\u00a0Will Smith<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0\u2018Men In Black 3.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>and in\u00a0Kathryn Bigelow\u2019s \u2018Zero Dark Thirty.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cJessica Jones\u201d is the second of five Netflix shows Marvel will roll out starting next year with \u201cMarvel\u2019s Daredevil.\u201d Following the two will be both \u201cLuke Cage\u201d and \u201cIron Fist,\u201d with all four leading into a \u201cDefenders\u201d mini-series.<\/p>\n
