\"Cuba<\/a><\/p>\n

Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.<\/strong> will play football star-turned-murder defendant O.J. Simpson<\/strong> in the first installment of Ryan Murphy<\/strong>\u2019s new anthology miniseries for FX, \u201cAmerican Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson<\/strong>.\u201d Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-nominated actress Sarah Paulson<\/strong> is also onboard to portray prosecutor Marcia Clark.<\/p>\n

Murphy developed \u201cAmerican Crime Series\u201d to focus each season on a different true crime story which made headlines and captivated the imagination of the public. He will direct the first installment, which is based on the book \u201cThe Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson\u201d<\/strong> by Jeffrey Toobin<\/strong>, the first two hours of which are adapted by Scott Alexander<\/strong> and Larry Karaszweski<\/strong> (Ed Wood, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Big Eyes).<\/p>\n

Told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, the series reveals how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD\u2019s history with the city\u2019s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n

Murphy, the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning writer\/producer and director of the hit series \u201cGlee,\u201d \u201cNip\/Tuck\u201d and \u201cAmerican Horror Story,\u201d executive produces alongside Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski<\/strong> and Dante Di Loreto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Production begins early next year in Los Angeles with FXP and Fox 21 Television Studios, the companies responsible for the long-running hit series \u201cSons of Anarchy\u201d on the network, producing.<\/p>\n

Gooding Jr. will be seen in Ava DuVernay’s \u201cSelma\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>and is in production on BET’s \u201cThe Book of Negroes,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0while Paulson is currently starring in FX’s \u201cAmerican Horror Story: Freak Show<\/strong>\u201d and recently completed production on Todd Haynes\u2019 latest film, \u201cCarol<\/strong>,\u201d alongside Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.<\/strong><\/p>\n
