Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer\u00a0to director Ava DuVernay’s<\/strong> <\/strong>MLK film ‘Selma<\/strong>,’ which will have a limited release in the U.S. on Christmas day and will open wide on January 9, 2015.<\/p>\n

Along with the trailer is the\u00a0lyric video for\u00a0Common<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0John Legend<\/b>\u2019s original song \u201cGlory\u201d<\/strong>, which was written for the film.\u00a0<\/strong>The music has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Song In a Film.<\/p>\n

\u201cSELMA\u201d is the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.\u2019s historic struggle to secure voting rights for all people \u2013 a dangerous and terrifying campaign that culminated with the epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The film\u2019s release will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the landmark legislation.<\/p>\n

The film stars David Oyelowo<\/strong> as Martin Luther King Jr., Tom Wilkinson<\/strong> as Lyndon Baines Johnson, Carmen Ejogo<\/strong> as Coretta Scott King, Andre Holland<\/strong> as Andrew Young, Omar J. Dorsey <\/strong>as James Orange, Alessandro Nivola<\/strong> as John Doar, Dylan Baker <\/strong>as J. Edgar Hoover, Giovanni Ribisi <\/strong>as Lee White, Tessa Thompson<\/strong> as Diane Nash, Colman Domingo<\/strong> as Ralph Abernathy, Stephen Root <\/strong>as Al Lingo, Jeremy Strong <\/strong>as James Reeb, with Tim Roth <\/strong>as George Wallace, and Oprah Winfrey <\/strong>as Annie Lee Cooper.<\/p>\n
