Urban Movie Channel\u00a0has acquired\u00a0the upcoming indie film ‘Where Children Play,<\/strong>‘ as announced by\u00a0Robert L. Johnson<\/strong>, chairman and founder of UMC\u2019s parent company RLJ Entertainment.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by\u00a0Leila Djansi <\/strong>and starring Macy Gray, Teyonah Parris, Brian White, Leon, Miranda Bailey<\/strong>,\u00a0Edwina Findley<\/strong>, Kylee Russell<\/strong> and Osas Ighodaro,<\/strong> the film centers on a young woman who extricates herself from a violent family situation in an act of self-preservation but to find herself, she must face her fears.<\/p>\n

Estranged from her family for ten years, Bellissima, \u2018Bell\u2019 Mccain, returns to Compton for her mother\u2019s funeral and then is forced to stay and care for her sick father. The house becomes flooded not only with vivid memories of the abuse doled out by the very man whom Bell must nurse, but also her teenage sister, Ruby, who had died in the house has long awaited Bell\u2019s return.<\/p>\n

‘Where Children Play’ was produced by Violetta Ekpe<\/strong> and Amanda Marshall<\/strong>. Dave Harper <\/strong>serves as an exec producer.<\/p>\n
