Earlier today, Sylvester Stallone<\/strong>, thru his Instagram account<\/a>, posted the first official photo from Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM\u2019s upcoming Rocky spin-off, Creed<\/strong>, starring Michael B. Jordan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Set to hit theaters on\u00a0November 25 and directed by Fruitvale Station\u2019s Ryan Coogler, the film also stars\u00a0Stallone, Tessa Thompson<\/strong>, and\u00a0Phylicia Rashad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Raised in an upper-crust home thanks to the ring riches earned by his grandfather, the young man (Jordan) doesn\u2019t have to box and his family doesn\u2019t want him to. Yet, he has the natural instinct and gifts and potential that made his grandfather the heavyweight champion until Rocky Balboa took his crown in 1979\u2032s Rocky II. Creed\u2019s grandson needs a mentor and turns to Balboa, who is out of boxing completely and not eager to return.<\/p>\n

\"Apollo<\/a><\/p>\n

Rashad<\/strong>\u00a0is playing the widow of Apollo Creed and grandmother to\u00a0Michael B. Jordan\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0character.<\/p>\n

Balboa was Creed\u2019s father\u2019s greatest opponent and later his best friend until that fateful moment when Balboa heeded Creed\u2019s wishes and didn\u2019t stop the fight against the Soviet fighter Drago (played by\u00a0Dolph Lungdren<\/strong>\u00a0in 1985\u2032s Rocky IV) before the giant delivered what proved to be a fatal beating. The elder Creed, played by\u00a0Carl Weathers<\/strong>, appeared in the first four Rocky films.<\/p>\n

Also featured in\u00a0film are champion boxers\u00a0Andre Ward and Tony Bellew<\/strong>\u00a0with Bellew to play a fighter named \u201cPretty Ricky Porter,\u201d Michael B. Jordan\u2019s main opponent in the ring.<\/p>\n

Coogler wrote the script alongside\u00a0Aaron Covington<\/strong>. Stallone will also produce, alongside\u00a0Robert Chartoff<\/strong>,\u00a0Kevin King<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Irwin Winkler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
