A slew of new photos have been released online for Warner Bros.’ Black Mass<\/strong>, starring Johnny Depp<\/strong> as James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, one of the most notorious gangsters in U.S. history.<\/p>\n

Directed by Scott Cooper<\/strong>, the cast also includes Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, Rory Cochrane, David Harbour, Dakota Johnson, Julianne Nicholson, James Russo, Adam Scott, Corey Stoll, Juno Temple, W. Earl Brown, Bill Camp, Brad Carter<\/strong>, and Jeremy Strong.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James \u201cWhitey\u201d Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.<\/p>\n

The film is based on the book by Dick Lehr<\/strong> and Gerard O’Neill<\/strong>, with the screenplay written by Mark Mallouk<\/strong> and Jez Butterworth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
