Newcomer Jason Mitchell<\/strong>, who’s captivating audiences with his performance as Eazy-E in the blockbuster hit film, Straight Outta Compton<\/strong>, has been added to the cast of Universal’s upcoming film Kong: Skull Island<\/strong>, where he will reunite with fellow Compton castmate Corey Hawkins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Variety is stating that Mitchell joins a cast that also includes Toby Kebbell, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John C. Reilly<\/strong>, and Tom Wilkinson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The film will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D by Universal Pictures March 10, 2017.<\/p>\n

The story will be set in the mysterious, dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the island.\u00a0<\/span>Although the specifics of the project are shrouded in mystery, Jason Mitchell\u2019s character is said to be a pilot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan Vogt-Roberts<\/strong> (The Kings of Summer) will direct the film from a script by John Gatins<\/strong> and Max Borenstein<\/strong>. Legendary’s\u00a0Thomas Tull\u00a0<\/strong>and Jon Jashni<\/strong> will produce and Alex Garcia (Godzilla) will executive produce.<\/p>\n
