Simone Missick<\/strong> has been added to the cast \u00a0Netflix’s\u00a0\u201cMarvel\u2019s Luke Cage”\u00a0<\/strong>as “Misty,” where folks who have read the comics may know her best\u00a0as Misty Knight<\/p>\n

This follows today’s earlier\u00a0reporting of the\u00a0casting of Theo Rossi<\/strong> along\u00a0with\u00a0Rosario Dawson, <\/strong>who\u00a0will reprising her\u00a0\u201cMarvel\u2019s Daredevil\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>role as Claire Temple.<\/p>\n

The trio\u00a0join Mike Colter<\/strong>, who will star as Luke Cage and Alfre Woodard<\/strong>, who is set to play gang leader Black Maria, the series\u2019 villain.<\/p>\n

\"Mike<\/a><\/p>\n

In Luke Cage, Mike Colter, who will be first introduced in the second Marvel series for Netflix, A.K.A. Jessica Jones<\/strong>, plays Cage, a wrongly accused man who, granted superstrength by a sabotaged experiment, escapes prison to become a superhero for hire. Colter will be showcased in 6 or 7 episodes of the Jessica Jones show before leading his own Netflix series, Luke Cage.<\/p>\n

\"Misty<\/a><\/p>\n

Misty Knight made her comic book debut in \u201cMarvel Premiere\u201d #21, created by\u00a0Tony Isabella and Arvell Jones. Originally a police officer with the NYPD, Misty Knight lost her arm in a bombing accident, but Iron Man himself built her a new bionic arm. The character has worked as a private detective with Luke Cage throughout the comics, even leading the Heroes for Hire at one point. Knight has also been one half of the Daughters of the Dragon with her partner\u00a0Colleen Wing as well as a frequent love interest for Danny Rand aka Iron Fist.<\/p>\n

Rossi will play the villain Shades, who made his first appearance in 1972 in the premiere issue of \u201cLuke Cage, Hero for Hire.\u201d A convicted felon, Shades and his partner in crime, Comanche, escaped prison and came into possession of a visor that enables him to shoot optic blasts.<\/p>\n

\"Simone<\/a><\/p>\n

Missick is married to actor Dorian Missick<\/strong> and together, they will appear in Pete Chatmon’s short film, Black Card<\/strong>, which will be shown at the 19th Annual Urban Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Cheo Hodari Coker<\/strong> will serve as executive producer and showrunner of “Marvel\u2019s Luke Cage.”\u00a0He\u00a0is also writing the first two episodes of the series that will premiere in 2016, everywhere that Netflix is available.<\/p>\n

“Luke Cage”<\/strong> is the third series in Marvel\u2019s four-series package at Netflix after \u201cJessica Jones\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cMarvel\u2019s Daredevil.\u201d<\/strong> The last series will be \u201cIron Fist,\u201d<\/strong> with all four leading into a \u201cDefenders\u201d<\/strong> mini-series.<\/p>\n
