A crop of set pics have popped online on the sixth installment of the sci-fi, action horror film series, \u201cResident Evil: The Final Chapter,\u201d<\/strong> which has began principal photography in South Africa.<\/p>\n

This will be the final installment in the successful film franchise adaptation of Capcom\u2019s hugely popular video game series, having grossed over $1 billion worldwide to date.<\/p>\n

Constantin Film will produce Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Director Paul W.S. Anderson<\/strong>, who wrote the screenplay, will shoot the film on location in Johannesburg and Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Milla Jovovich<\/strong> will reprise her starring role as Alice. The Resident Evil: The Final Chapter cast also includes Ali Larter<\/strong> as Claire Redfield, Iain Glen<\/strong> in the role of Dr. Alexander Isaacs, Shawn Roberts<\/strong> as Albert Wesker, Australian actress Ruby Rose<\/strong> as Abigail, Eoin Macken<\/strong> as Doc, Cuban American actor William Levy<\/strong> as Christian, Fraser James<\/strong> as Michael, and Japanese model and TV personality, Rola<\/strong>, as Cobalt.<\/p>\n

\"Resident<\/a><\/p>\n

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity\u2019s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began \u2013 Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.<\/p>\n

In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella\u2019s impending attack, this will be Alice\u2019s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.<\/p>\n

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be distributed in the U.S. by Screen Gems in January 2017, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International, excluding Germany (Constantin Film) and France (Metropolitan).<\/p>\n
