The winners will be revealed live at the star-studded Critics\u2019 Choice Awards gala, which will be broadcast from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on A&amp;E, Lifetime and LMN on <strong>Sunday, January 17 at 8PM ET\/ 5PM PT<\/strong> immediately following \u201cCritics\u2019 Choice Red Carpet Live\u201d on A&amp;E at 7PM ET\/4PM PT. As previously announced, actor and comedian T.J. Miller will serve as the show\u2019s host.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMad Max: Fury Road\u201d leads this year with 13 nominations including Best Picture, Charlize Theron for both Best Actress and Best Actress In An Action Movie, Tom Hardy for Best Actor In An Action Movie, George Miller for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects, Best Action Movie, and Best Sci-Fi\/Horror Movie.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Mad-Max-Fury-Road-Poster-7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-64805\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 202 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Mad-Max-Fury-Road-Poster-7-202x300.jpg\" alt=\"Mad Max Fury Road Poster 7\" width=\"202\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarol,\u201d \u201cThe Martian,\u201d and \u201cThe Revenant\u201d impressed with nine nominations each, all in the running for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Cinematography, among others. \u201cSpotlight\u201d earned eight nominations, followed by \u201cThe Big Short\u201d with seven, and \u201cThe Hateful Eight\u201d with six. \u201cBridge of Spies,\u201d \u201cBrooklyn,\u201d \u201cThe Danish Girl,\u201d \u201cJurassic World,\u201d and \u201cSicario\u201d each garnered five nominations and \u201cRoom\u201d earned four.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Lawrence is up for three awards, for her work in both \u201cJoy\u201d and \u201cThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay &#8211; Part 2,\u201d while Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are both nominated for two acting awards. Topping the list of nominated series is Fargo (FX Networks) with eight. The Leftovers (HBO) and Transparent (Amazon) follow closely behind with six each. The Wiz Live! (NBC) garnered five nominations, while Black-ish (ABC), Mr. Robot (USA), and Penny Dreadful (Showtime) each earned four. Other top series with multiple nominations include American Horror Story: Hotel (FX Networks), Empire (FOX), Jane The Virgin (The CW), Luther (BBC America), Rectify (Sundance), Saints &amp; Strangers (National Geographic Channel), Show Me A Hero (HBO), The Knick (Cinemax), UnREAL (Lifetime), and You\u2019re The Worst (FX Networks), all with three nominations, and Chopped (Food Network), Fresh Off The Boat (ABC), Getting On (HBO), Hannibal (NBC), Inside The Actors Studio (Bravo), Master of None (Netflix), Mom (CBS), Nashville (ABC), Survivor (CBS), The Amazing Race (CBS), The Grinder (FOX), The Last Man on Earth (FOX), and The Middle (ABC), all with two. Because of the new combined Critics\u2019 Choice Awards format, only television shows airing primarily within the seven months from June 1 \u2013 December 31 were eligible for nomination.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis is a new Golden Age in Hollywood, with a dazzling array of spectacular, delightful and illuminating films and programs to choose from,\u201d<\/strong> says BFCA\/BTJA President Joey Berlin. <strong>\u201cThese nominations not only honor extraordinary achievements but they serve as an incredibly helpful guide to the best of the best for viewers and ticket buyers. The BFCA is the largest film critics&#8217; organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 300 television, radio and online critics. BFCA members are the primary source of information for today&#8217;s film-going public. BTJA is the collective voice of almost 100 journalists who regularly cover television for TV viewers, radio listeners and online audiences. Historically, the \u201cCritics&#8217; Choice Awards\u201d are the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations.<\/p>\n<p>A&amp;E Networks partnered with the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) to become the exclusive home to the 2015 \u201cCritics&#8217; Choice Movie Awards\u201d and \u201cCritics&#8217; Choice Television Awards.\u201d That partnership continues in 2016, with the newly formatted three-hour ceremony that brings together both sets of accolades, and for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 21st Annual Critics\u2019 Choice Awards\u201d will be produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment.
