Invited guests to this private affair will include artists and other prominent members of the Hollywood community. She has moved effortlessly between the worlds of film, television, music and the stage, earning her the designation Hollywood legend. She is an Oscar nominee, a Tony Award winner, a Golden Globe winner, a four-time Emmy nominee, a Grammy nominee and a best-selling author.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Diahann-Carroll-Julia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-full wp-image-39004\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 217'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Diahann-Carroll-Julia.jpg\" alt=\"Diahann Carroll Julia\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Diahann Carroll made her Broadway debut starring in the Harold Arlen\/Truman Capote musical House of Flowers. After seeing her in that production, Richard Rodgers created his own starring vehicle for her, the Broadway musical No Strings, for which she won a Tony Award.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps best known for her groundbreaking lead role as a nurse and single mom in the critically acclaimed television series Julia, which debuted in 1968 and ran for three years, Diahann Carrroll earned her first Emmy nomination. Her extensive television career includes the game-changing role as \u201cDominique Devereaux\u201d on the internationally popular television series Dynasty, as well as recurring roles on USA\u2019s hit series White Collar, ABC\u2019s Grey\u2019s Anatomy and A Different World.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Diahann-Carroll-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-39003\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 205 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Diahann-Carroll-1-205x300.jpg\" alt=\"Diahann Carroll 1\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the big screen, Ms. Carroll received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and a Golden Globe award for her starring role opposite James Earl Jones in Claudine.
