Bartley, Jr., Lynn Whitfield, Keith David, John Diehl<\/strong>, and <strong>Clifton Powell<\/strong>, THE NORTH STAR will released by RLJ Entertainment on DVD,\u00a0Digital HD on Blu-ray on March 1, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>THE NORTH STAR is the story of BENJAMIN \u201cBIG BEN\u201d JONES (<strong>Jeremiah Trotter<\/strong>) and MOSES HOPKINS (<strong>Thomas C. Bartley Jr.<\/strong>), two slaves who escaped from a Virginia plantation and made their way to freedom in Buckingham, Pennsylvania in 1849. THE NORTH STAR is the first film from Doylestown, PA native Thomas K. Phillips. It tells an uplifting and inspiring story of people from different races and backgrounds coming together to triumph over slavery.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/The-North-Star-3.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-79630\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-79630\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 169'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/The-North-Star-3-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"The North Star 3\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Trotter and Bartley, cast members for THE NORTH STAR include <strong>Clifton Powell<\/strong> (Ray) <strong>Lynn Whitfield<\/strong> (HBO\u2019s Josephine Baker Story), <strong>John Diehl<\/strong> (Jurassic Park III), <strong>Keith David<\/strong> (Platoon), <strong>Christopher Mann<\/strong> (\u201cThe Wire\u201d) and <strong>April Woodall<\/strong> (Broadway actress and vocalist).<\/p>\n<p>THE NORTH STAR\u2019s original score was composed and performed by Grammy Award winner Ramsey Lewis with his son Frayne Lewis.
