With a domestic gross of $46M at the box office, it was considered a failure before DVD sales and TV viewings made it a cult classic.<\/p>\n<p>Created by <strong>Dave Stevens<\/strong> in 1982, Rocketeer was first published by Pacific Comics. Set in 1938, the story follows stunt pilot Cliff Secord who comes into possession of an experimental jetpack that allows him to take his fight for justice to the skies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/The-Rocketeer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-86988\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/The-Rocketeer-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"The Rocketeer\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Max Winkler<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Spicer<\/strong> have been hired to write the reboot\/sequel for the new film, which is being titled <strong>The Rocketeers<\/strong>. THR describes the new film as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African\u2013American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jetpack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Brigham-Taylor-Blake-Griffin-and-Ryan-Kalil.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignleft size-medium wp-image-86989\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 187'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Brigham-Taylor-Blake-Griffin-and-Ryan-Kalil-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"Brigham Taylor, Blake Griffin, and Ryan Kalil\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Producing the reboot are The Jungle Book producer <strong>Brigham Taylor<\/strong> along with L.A.
