The series will be produced by Lionsgate, whose sister company Roadside Attractions released the original film in 2014. The 10-episode, 30-minute series will go into production later this year and will premiere on Netflix around the world in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Set among a diverse group of students of color as they navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college where racial tensions are often swept under the rug, Dear White People is a send up of \u201cpost-racial\u201d America that also weaves a universal story about forging one\u2019s own unique path.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dear-White-People-Netflix-Cast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-88509\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 246'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dear-White-People-Netflix-Cast-300x246.jpg\" alt=\"Dear White People Netflix Cast\" width=\"300\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Long will recur as Neika Hobbs, an African-American studies professor at Winchester University with a whip-smart intellect and unflappable confidence whose pulled-together professional life contrasts a more complicated personal one.<\/p>\n<p>She joins\u00a0<strong>Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Ashley Blaine Featherson, <\/strong>who\u00a0have been cast as series regulars with\u00a0<strong>Marque Richardson<\/strong>\u00a0also joins as recurring, reprising his role from the 2014 film.<\/p>\n<p>Long most recently starred on the ABC series <strong>Uncle Buck<\/strong> and appeared in the feature Keanu. Other recent TV credits include The Divide and House of Lies.
