\"spectral-cast-james-badge-dale-max-martini-clayne-crawford-emily-mortimer-bruce-greenwood-and-cory-hardrict\"<\/a>Deadline is reporting that Netflix has picked Legendary Pictures’ sci-fi thriller ‘Spectral,’ <\/strong>which stars\u00a0James Badge Dale,\u00a0Max Martini, Clayne Crawford,\u00a0Emily Mortimer,\u00a0Bruce Greenwood, <\/strong>and\u00a0Cory Hardrict.<\/strong>\u00a0Netflix has set it for a December 9 global release.<\/p>\n

Directed by Nic Mathieu,\u00a0<\/strong>the film centers on a\u00a0brilliant DARPA scientist (Badge Dale) who embarks on a deadly mission with a Special Ops team of Delta Force soldiers into a battle-scarred, war-torn city, where mysterious phantom aggressors code-named Spectral have been causing inexplicable civilian deaths.<\/p>\n

Emily Mortimer plays a CIA mission leader while Greenwood plays a high-ranking military official who briefs the heroes on a new kind of terror threat.<\/p>\n

Legendary’s Thomas Tull<\/strong> and Jon Jashni<\/strong>\u00a0are producers, with Jillian Share<\/strong> and Guy Riedel<\/strong> serving as executive producers. Sophia Sikora<\/strong> will also oversee the film for Legendary. According to TheWrap<\/a>, the original treatment, which was described as a supernatural \u201cBlack Hawk Down,\u201d was purchased from Ian Fried<\/strong>, though George Nolfi<\/strong> wrote the script with an assist from rewriter John Gatins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The film has a score by Junkie XL (Batman V\u00a0Superman<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Deadpool<\/em>). The futuristic weapons were produced by Peter Jackson\u2019s Weta Workshop and the VFX was done by Weta Digital, overseen by Oscar winners Joe Letteri and Erik Winquist.<\/p>\n
