\"Shots<\/a><\/p>\n

20th Century Fox has announced that its upcoming police brutality series, “Shots Fired,” <\/strong>will premiere on Wednesday, March 22 at 8pm.<\/p>\n

First shown at the 2016 Urbanworld Film Festival<\/strong>, the Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewoood <\/strong>penned and Brian Grazer <\/strong>produced “event series” will have a World Premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival where the first two episodes of the 10-hour series will be screened,\u00a0 followed by an extended Q&A with members of the crew and cast.<\/p>\n

Inspired by recent events that have sparked national outrage and the Black Lives Matters movement, “Shots Fired” <\/strong>stars Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James,\u00a0Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfus, Jill Hennessy<\/b>, Stephen Moyer, DeWanda Wise, Tristan (aka Mack) Wilds and Aisha Hinds<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Shots<\/a><\/p>\n

Shots Fired stars Sanaa Lathan<\/strong> as Ashe Bell, an expert investigator who examines the dangerous aftermath of the racially-charged shootings in a small town in North Carolina, alongside Preston Terry (Race\u2019s Stephan James<\/strong>), a special prosecutor sent to the town by the Department of Justice. The pair must navigate the media attention, public debate and the social unrest that comes with such volatile cases, as they seek justice before the divided town erupts.<\/p>\n

Hunt will portray Patricia\u00a0Eamons, the fictional governor of North Carolina. Dreyfuss will play Arlen Cox, a real estate mogul and owner of a privatized prison who is intricately involved in the shootings. Moyer will play Officer Breeland, a seasoned veteran in the town\u2019s Sheriff\u2019s Department, who gets caught in the middle of the investigation.<\/p>\n

\"Shots<\/a><\/p>\n

Wilds plays\u00a0Officer Belk, a young African American sheriff\u2019s deputy in a small town in North Carolina, who after a police shooting is thrust into the national spotlight that pushes his life and young family into chaos. Hinds is Pastor Janae James, a young female activist from the neighborhood who also is thrust upon the national stage when she exposes the hypocrisy in the town.<\/p>\n

Wise has the role of\u00a0Shameeka Campbell, who lives in \u201cthe houses,\u201d one of the worst parts of town. She opens up to the prosecutors about her son being killed by police and how they threatened to arrest her if she talked.<\/p>\n

Shots Fired is produced by Undisputed Cinema and Imagine Television, in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-written by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood. The project is executive-produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct.<\/p>\n
