Henson<\/strong>, who plays a civil rights activist in the film.<\/p>\n<p>The film will be directed by <strong>Robin Bissell,<\/strong> who also adapted the script from<strong> Osha Gray Davidson<\/strong>\u2019s book <strong>\u201cThe Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The centers on the battle and eventual friendship between Ann Atwater (Henson), a working class, single black mother in Durham, NC, who quit her job as a household domestic to join the civil rights fight, and C. P. Ellis (Rockwell), a working class white man also from Durham who, as a young man, joined the Ku Klux Klan. The fought for a decade until 1971, when the two agreed to co-chair a two-week community meeting to deal with a court-ordered school desegregation decree. That event changed both of their lives immeasurably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ceesay, who recently starred in \u00a0Showtime&#8217;s <strong>&#8220;Guerrilla&#8221;<\/strong> miniseries, \u00a0will play Bill Riddick who convinced Ellis and Atwater to try to reach a compromise. The cast also includes <strong>Anne Heche, Wes Bentley, Bruce McGill, Nick Searcy<\/strong>, and <strong>John Gallagher Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rockwell is known for his work in films like<strong>\u00a0Moon,\u00a0Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,\u00a0The Hitchhiker\u2019s Guide to the Galaxy,\u00a0The Green Mile,\u00a0Choke<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Galaxy Quest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Production will begin in Atlanta on May 22 for Fred Beernstein\u2019s Astute Films. The film is produced by Danny Strong, Tobey Maguire, Matthew Plouffe, Bernstein, Matt Berenson, Bissell and Dominique Telson.
