Last night, Blackfilm.com attended the premiere to the upcoming fourth\u00a0season of Starz\u2019s hit series\u00a0Power<\/strong>,\u00a0which will air\u00a0on\u00a0Sunday, June 25<\/strong>, starting at 12:01 am on the STARZ app and On Demand. The network on-air premiere will be at its regularly scheduled time of 9:00 pm ET\/PT. Season Four of \u201cPower\u201d will consist of 10 one-hour episodes.<\/p>\n

Held at\u00a0The Newseum in Washington, DC.,\u00a0the Season 4 Red Carpet\u00a0was star studded with The Real Housewives of Potomac, NBA players like Wizard\u2019s John Wall, and I can\u2019t even begin to name all the New York and Washington DC politicians that graced the red carpet but the Starz cast of Power outshined them all.<\/p>\n

In attendance from the show were\u00a0Executive Producer\/ Actor\u00a0Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson<\/strong>\u00a0and show creator\u00a0Courtney A. Kemp<\/strong>, Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton, Lela Loren, Joseph Sikora, Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson, La La Anthony, Michael Rainey Jr, Rotimi Akinosho,\u00a0DonShea Hopkins,\u00a0Larenz Tate, William Sadler,\u00a0David Fumero, Shane Johnson,\u00a0Matt Cedeno, and Sung Kang.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Like everyone else holding their breath until Sunday, June 25 I want to know what to expect. Well, once\u00a0again, according to the cast and creator the darker and sexier side of raw human nature will prevail on the upcoming season of Power. \u201cIt\u2019s like it always is. I don\u2019t expect you to watch an episode of Power without you pausing and saying, \u2018What the hell did they just do?!\u2019 That\u2019s what Power\u2019s designed for,\u201d<\/strong> said Creator\/Writer Courtney Kemp.<\/p>\n

Like a true boss and Executive Producer, Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson\u2019s presence spoke volumes in the midst of his silence as he let the cast take the lead and shine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Omari Hardwick (Ghost) and Joseph Sikora (Tommy Egan) were tight lipped but Sikora did say, \u201cFor at least the first episode we\u2019re not together (Ghost and Tommy).\u201d<\/strong> Hardwick added, \u201cAs you know in the first episode I\u2019m (Ghost) locked up. We\u2019re so used to working with each other and now all of a sudden the series shifted to a point where we\u2019re not necessarily working so much together.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I also discovered there will be some surprising twists and turns for characters Mike Sandoval, Shane Johnson, Tariq St. James, and Dre. David Fumero (Mike) said, \u201cSurvival is the theme for Mike. By the decisions he\u2019s made, he\u2019s found himself in a very scary jungle and somehow has to get out and get out alive.\u201d Regarding surprises for this season all he would say is \u201cMike keeps getting away with things.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Michael Rainy Jr. (Tariq) dropped this, \u201cI didn\u2019t expect people to hate Tariq so much. I don\u2019t want to give anything away but it gets crazy! Tariq has the I don\u2019t care attitude this season. He\u2019s like I don\u2019t care and I\u2019m gonna do what I gotta do to get it. It\u2019s a build up from last season because before Tariq use to be quiet and to himself and now he\u2019s lashing out and getting crazy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now I was a little scared but Shane Johnson (Cooper) definitely peaked interest with this tidbit \u201cCooper has a dark side. He\u2019s got some sexual deviance in his past and we\u2019re still figuring out what that is.\u201d<\/strong> And Rotimi Akinosho (Dre) kept it short but intriguing \u201cIt\u2019s the rise of Dre; Don\u2019t believe me just watch.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

While the entire cast is returning there are some exciting new editions, Larenz Tate (House of Lies, Game of Silence, Love Jones) and William Sadler (Iron Man 3, The Green Mile). Tate plays Councilman Tate and expressed his excitement about joining the cast and said, \u201cThe storylines and plots are elevated this season. I don\u2019t want to give any spoilers. Councilman Tate is a decent fella but he\u2019s a politician.\u201d And just know, \u201c You ain\u2019t gotta love him but you gotta respect him,\u201d<\/strong> said Tate about his character.<\/p>\n

Sadler\u2019s character Tony Teresi \u201chas a violent background when you meet him in jail. He\u2019s obviously capable of messing people up but he\u2019s also capable of love. It\u2019s a wonderful combination; he\u2019s not just a simple badass gangsta dude. There are people in his life that he loves very much.\u201d<\/strong> I tried to push for more but Sandler left me and all Power fans with this, \u201cI wish I could tell you more but I can\u2019t. Make some popcorn, re-watch the last three seasons, and then glue yourself to your TV for season 4.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Season 4 will open with \u201cGhost\u201d behind bars, following his highly publicized arrest by his ex-girlfriend, Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Valdes, for the murder of FBI Agent Greg Knox \u2013 a crime he did not commit. Ghost can\u2019t outrun his past choices and mounting enemies this season, which threaten his freedom and his family\u2019s safety at every turn. His fight for redemption brings him face-to-face with the Feds, the media, new allies, and old foes. But the biggest obstacle for Ghost remains himself and his internal struggle between the man he wants to be and the one he really is.<\/p>\n
