THR<\/a> is reporting that Erica Ash<\/strong>, best known for her role in the just cancelled Starz series Survivor’s Remorse, has landed the lead role in a new BET series, the legal drama In Contempt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Created by Terri Kopp (Law & Order, Third Watch, BET’s Rebel), who also serves as show runner, the 10-episode procedural is in the fast-paced world of a legal aid office in New York City and follows Gwen Sullivan (Ash), an opinionated attorney whose passion for her job and clients make her arguably the most talented public defender in her district.<\/p>\n

The show is currently\u00a0in production in Canada.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Megan Hutchings<\/strong> (Reign) as Tracy Campbell, a public defender and Gwen\u2019s friend and roommate. Christian Keyes<\/strong> (BET’s Let’s Stay Together) as Charlie Riggs, an attorney with an ego who is Gwen’s boss and friend with benefits. Mouna Traor\u00e9<\/strong> (BET’s Book of Negroes) as Vanessa Winters, a rookie attorney learning what it means to be woke. Tobias Truvillion<\/strong> (Empire, The Blacklist) as Bennett Sherman, Gwen\u2019s longtime secret crush and former law professor. Richard Lawson<\/strong> (Poltergeist, Grey’s Anatomy, Real Husbands of Hollywood) as Earl Sullivan, Gwen\u2019s father. Ronnie Rowe Jr.<\/strong> as Gwen’s professional nemesis; and Daniel Kash<\/strong> Gwen’s boss.<\/p>\n
