Variety<\/a> is reporting that actress Kylie Bunbury has been cast in the lead role for ABC’s pilot on Get Christie Love<\/strong>,\u00a0a reboot based on the 1974 blaxploitation TV movie and short-lived series of the same name, which centered around an undercover black woman detective who is set to overthrow a drug ring. It is a co-production between Lionsgate and Universal Televisions.<\/p>\n

‘Power’ Creator Courtney Kemp <\/strong>will be the showrunner for its pilot and among the producers are Debra Martin Chase<\/strong> through Martin Chase Productions, and Vin Diesel<\/strong> and Shana C. Waterman<\/strong> through One Race Television.\u00a0It is a co-production between Lionsgate and Universal Televisions.<\/p>\n

Written by Kemp, the reboot is “an action-packed, music-driven\u00a0drama that centers on Christie Love, an African American female\u00a0CIA agent who leads an elite\u00a0ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it\u2019s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death.\u00a0The high-adrenaline missions of the series are\u00a0anchored by an emotional mystery about Christie\u2019s first love \u2014 unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest\u00a0mission impossible\u00a0of her life.”<\/p>\n

The original GET CHRISTIE LOVE!, which premiered on ABC on January 22, 1974, was the first one-hour drama to star an African American female (Teresa Graves) in the leading role. A few years after\u00a0Get Christie Love,\u00a0she retired from acting to devote her time to Jehovah’s Witness. She died in a 2002\u00a0house fire.<\/p>\n

Bunbury was most recently seen portraying the first female professional Major League Baseball player for Fox in \u201cPitch.\u201d<\/strong> Her past television roles include ABC Family\u2019s murder mystery series \u201cTwisted\u201d<\/strong>, working opposite Ben Kingsley in the mini-series, \u201cTut\u201d,<\/strong> and joining the CBS hit summer series \u201cUnder The Dome\u201d<\/strong> for writer and creator, Brian K. Vaughn, and Stephen King as a key figure to the finale of the series.
