Sony Pictures and Studio 8 have pushed back the release date to their upcoming Ice Age-set drama, Alpha<\/strong>, directed by Albert Hughes<\/strong> (Menace II Society, The Book of Eli). The film was formerly known as The Solutrean.<\/p>\n

Alpha, which was scheduled to open in theaters on March 2, 2018, will now come to theaters on September 14, 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alpha is an epic adventure set in the last Ice Age. Europe, 20,000 years ago. While on his first hunt, an initiation to his tribe\u2019s most elite group, a young man, Zeta, is injured and left for dead after a bison hunt goes horribly wrong. Awaking to find himself broken, alone, and miles from his village \u2013 he must learn to survive and navigate the harsh and unforgiving wilderness. Reluctantly taming a lone wolf, Alpha, abandoned by its pack, the pair learn to rely on each other to hunt and become unlikely allies, enduring countless dangers and overwhelming odds in order to find their way home before the deadly winter arrives.<\/p>\n

Kodi Smit-McPhee<\/strong> (X-Men: Apocalypse, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) stars in the film alongside Natassia Malthe<\/strong> (Elektra, This Means War), Leonor Varela<\/strong> (Blade II, Marvel\u2019s Agents of Shield), J\u00f3hannes Haukur J\u00f3hannesson<\/strong> (Game of Thrones, Atomic Blonde), Mercedes de la Zerda<\/strong> (War for the Planet of the Apes, Hemlock Grove), and Jens Hult\u00e9n<\/strong> (Mission: Impossible \u2013 Rogue Nation).<\/p>\n

Best known as one of the Hughes Brothers, Albert and Allen directed films such as\u00a0Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, From Hell, as The Book of Eli). This is his first feature on his own.<\/p>\n
