Shore<\/strong>, son of the original film\u2019s producer Sig Shore, will serve as an exec producer alongside <strong>Matthew Hirsch, Hal Sadoff<\/strong> and <strong>Aaron Ausch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Tse<\/strong> will be writing the screenplay the screenplay.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Super-Fly.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-105339\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 214 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Super-Fly-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The film is inspired by the 1972 classic, which starred <strong>Ron O\u2019Neal<\/strong> as Priest, a cocaine dealer looking to score one more super deal and retire. The movie was directed by <strong>Gordon Parks Jr<\/strong>., the son of <strong>Gordon Parks<\/strong>, who directed another blaxploitation classic \u201cShaft\u201d \u2014 one of the staples in the early years of the genre that took the \u201970s by storm.<\/p>\n<p>Future will curate the soundtrack for the redo, following in the footsteps of legendary songwriter and musician Curtis Mayfield, who composed the original soundtrack, which went on to the a critical and commercial success. Our goal is to make it modern \u2013 to make a movie where the style, the art direction, the camera movements are all part of what makes the movie <em>Superfly<\/em>.
