Legendary Pictures and Universal have released a new trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising<\/strong> featuring star John Boyega<\/strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight<\/strong> (Marvel\u2019s Daredevil), Pacific Rim Uprising also stars Scott Eastwood, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Jing Tian, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Lan Yingying, Qian Yongchen, Zhang Jin<\/strong>, and newcomers Cailee Spaeny and Chen Zitong.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>John Boyega stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father (played by Idris Elba<\/strong> in the original film) gave his life to secure humanity\u2019s victory against the monstrous \u201cKaiju.\u201d Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father\u2019s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)\u2014who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.<\/p>\n

The film is based on the universe first created by genre film culture innovator Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham in the 2013 blockbuster Pacific Rim.<\/p>\n

Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro are producing the new action adventure alongside Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter and Eric McLeod serve as the film\u2019s executive producers.<\/p>\n

Pacific Rim Uprising hits theaters in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on March 23, 2018.<\/p>\n
