Ahead of its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Focus Features has released the first clip from\u00a0Academy Award winning director Spike Lee\u2019s BlacKkKlansman, <\/strong>starring\u00a0<\/strong>John David Washington <\/strong>(HBO’s Ballers), Adam Driver<\/strong> (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Inside Llewyn Davis), Laura Harrier<\/strong> (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Topher Grace<\/strong> (Traffic, Spider-Man 3).<\/p>\n

Focus Features\u00a0will open the film in theaters later this summer on August 10, 2018 .<\/p>\n

From visionary director Spike Lee comes the provocative story based on Ron Stallworth<\/strong>\u2019s real life as Colorado Springs\u2019s first African-American police officer who went undercover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. Unbelievably, Detective Stallworth (John David Washington) and his partner Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) penetrate the KKK at its highest levels to thwart its attempt to take over the city.<\/p>\n

Also featured in the film are Jasper P\u00e4\u00e4kk\u00f6nen, Corey Hawkins, Ryan Eggold<\/strong> and Paul Walter Hauser<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hawkins<\/strong> has cast as civil rights activist\u00a0Stokely Carmichael (aka\u00a0Kwame Ture), <\/strong>while\u00a0Grace will play one of Stallworth\u2019s white supremacist nemeses in the film.<\/p>\n

Produced by the team behind the Academy-Award\u00ae winning Get Out, Spike Lee uses his trademark take-no-prisoner style and humor to tell this story often missing from the history books.<\/p>\n

BlacKkKlansman is being produced by Sean McKittrick<\/strong> and Raymond Mansfield<\/strong> for QC Entertainment, Jason Blum<\/strong> for Blumhouse, Jordan Peele<\/strong> for Monkeypaw, Spike Lee, and Shaun Redick<\/strong>. QC\u2019s Edward H. Hamm Jr. will serve as Executive Producer.<\/p>\n
