Here’s the first look at Jamaican director Storm Saulter<\/strong>\u2019s (Better Mus\u2019 Come) indie drama SPRINTER<\/strong>. The film will have its world premiere at the American Black Film Festival<\/strong> (ABFF) in Miami on June 14 and 15.<\/p>\n

Shot on location in Jamaica, SPRINTER tells the story of Akeem Sharp, a Jamaican teen burdened by an unstable father and an unruly older brother, hopes a meteoric rise in track-and-field can reunite him with his mother, who has lived illegally in the U.S. for over a decade.<\/p>\n

SPRINTER stars newcomer Dale Elliott<\/strong> (Akeem), Kadeem Wilson<\/strong> (Ghett\u2019 A Life), Dennis Titus<\/strong> (The Mighty Quinn) Shantol Jackson<\/strong> (Yardie), Bryshere Y. Gray<\/strong> (Empire, The New Edition Story), with Lorraine Toussaint<\/strong> (Orange is The New Black), and David Alan Grier<\/strong> (Jumanji, In Living Color).<\/p>\n

Producers are Robert Maylor, Clarence Hammond<\/strong> and Jamal Watson<\/strong>. Overbrook Entertainment Partners Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith<\/strong> are Executive Producers along with NBA Veteran and Media Personality Richard Jefferson<\/strong>. The film was written by Storm Saulter.<\/p>\n
