Following the teaser trailer that aired during this past weekend’s BET Awards, the network has released a full length trailer to its\u00a0two-part miniseries\u2018The Bobby Brown Story,\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0 which stars The New Edition Story’s\u00a0Woody\u00a0McClain<\/strong>, who \u00a0returns and stars as the adult Brown, Tyler Williams<\/strong>\u00a0as young Bobby Brown &\u00a0Sandi McCree<\/strong> as Bobby\u2019s mother Carole Brown.<\/p>\n

With a career that spans from founding the R&B super group New Edition to a successful solo run, Bobby Brown\u2019s life truly epitomizes the meaning of sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Hailed as the King of R&B, Bobby Brown is undisputedly one of the genre\u2019s original \u201cbad boys.\u201d His hits may have kept him at the top of the charts, but his antics kept him on the front page.<\/p>\n

The cast on The Bobby Brown Story also includes Mekhi Phifer, Lil Rel Howery, T.K. Carter, Laz Alonso, Lance Gross, Alyssa Goss,<\/strong> Donshea Hopkins<\/strong> and Gabrielle Dennis<\/strong> as Whitney Houston. Algee Smith<\/strong> and Luke James<\/strong> will be reprising their New Edition roles as Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill respectively.<\/p>\n

Phifer (Frequency) plays Tommy Brown, Bobby\u2019s brother. Howery (The Carmichael Show) is Brian Irvine, Bobby\u2019s business manager. Carter (The Corner) plays Herbert \u201cPops\u201d Brown, Bobby\u2019s father. Alonso (The Mysteries of Laura) is Louil Silas Jr, an MCA producer-executive who helps make Bobby a solo star. Gross is set as Steven Sealy, a childhood friend of Bobby\u2019s who is killed in a gunfight after hanging with him at a hometown bar. Goss plays Bobby\u2019s current wife, Alicia Etheridge, while Dennis will play Whitney Houston. Whitney and Bobby\u2019s roller-coaster marriage played out on the covers of tabloids and even reality TV, and the film will showcase their successes and struggles during their turbulent relationship. The couple was married from 1992-2007. Power’s Donshea Hopkins<\/strong> will plays Bobbi Kristina.<\/p>\n

The New Edition Story broke BET ratings records when it aired in January 2017, and The Bobby Brown Story picks up where that pic left off following Brown\u2019s successful solo run.<\/p>\n

The Bobby Brown Story is executive produced by Jesse Collins<\/strong> (The New Edition Story) for JCE Films, a division of Jesse Collins Entertainment; written by award-winning writer Abdul Williams<\/strong> (Lottery Ticket, The New Edition Story) and directed by award-winning director and Spike Lee prot\u00e9g\u00e9, Kiel Adrian Scott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

BET will air the two-night premiere for The Bobby Brown Story in September.<\/p>\n
