American Son explores tensions of race and class in America as an estranged interracial couple spends the evening in a police station after their teenage son&#8217;s car has been found without him in it. The play received its world premiere at Barrington Stage Company in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Washington will play Kendra Ellis-Connor, with Pasquale as Scott Connor, and Eugene Lee (Gem of the Ocean) as Lieutenant John Stokes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/American-Son-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-expand=\"600\" class=\"lazyload alignright size-medium wp-image-112609\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns%3D'http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg' viewBox%3D'0 0 300 300'%2F%3E\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.blackfilm.com\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/American-Son-logo-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Washington returns to Broadway in this new drama after making her debut in <strong>David Mamet&#8217;s Race<\/strong> (2009) and starring, for seven acclaimed seasons, on the hit television ABC series<strong> &#8220;Scandal.&#8221;<\/strong> Pasquale returns to Broadway following his starring roles in <strong>Junk<\/strong> (LCT) and <strong>Bridges of Madison County<\/strong>. On television Pasquale is known for his performances in <strong>&#8220;The People Vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story&#8221;<\/strong> and seven seasons on <strong>&#8220;Rescue Me.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m excited to have houses full of all different kinds of people, because I really think it\u2019s going to be something that resonates,\u201d<\/strong> she said to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/2018\/08\/kerry-washington-in-american-son\/amp?__twitter_impression=true\">Vanity Fair<\/a>. <strong>\u201cThe themes of the play are going to spark a curiosity for a lot of different kinds of people.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AMERICAN SON will begin performances on Saturday, October 6, 2018 with an official opening night set for Sunday, November 4, 2018.
