Walt Disney Pictures has released a teaser trailer for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms<\/strong>, hitting theaters on November 2, 2018.<\/p>\n

Lasse Hallstrom<\/strong> directed the film from a script written by Ashleigh Powell<\/strong>. Mark Gordon<\/strong> and Larry J. Franco<\/strong> are producing The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, with Lindy Goldstein executive producing.<\/p>\n

Mackenzie Foy<\/strong> stars as Clara alongside Keira Knightley<\/strong> as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Morgan Freeman<\/strong> as Drosselmeyer, Helen Mirren<\/strong> as Mother Ginger, and American Ballet Theatre dancer Misty Copeland<\/strong> as the lead ballerina role for the film\u2019s dance sequences.<\/p>\n

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key \u2013 a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer\u2019s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key\u2014which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It\u2019s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara\u2019s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.<\/p>\n

Most famously adapted as a ballet by Tchaikovsky in the late 19th century, the Nutcracker tale originated as a short story titled \u201cThe Nutcracker and the Mouse King\u201d by E.T.A. Hoffmann in 1816. In it, a young girl\u2019s dolls come to life on Christmas Eve alongside a noble nutcracker, who protects her from a villainous army of mice.<\/p>\n
