Blackfilm.com has exclusively learned that former ‘Empire’ actor Morocco Omari<\/strong> has been cast opposite Chadwick Boseman<\/strong> (Black Panther) in producers Joe and Anthony Russo’s action thriller ’17 Bridges’<\/strong> from STXfilms.<\/p>\n

Brian Kirk <\/strong>(Luther, Game of Thrones) will direct from a script by Adam Mervis<\/strong>. It Follows a disgraced detective (Boseman) in the NYPD who is given a shot at redemption. Thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, he begins to undercover a massive conspiracy that links his fellow cops to a criminal empire and must decide who he is hunting and who is actually hunting him. During the manhunt, Manhattan is completely locked down for the first time in its history \u2013 no exit or entry to the island including all 17 bridges.<\/p>\n

Omari will play a deputy mayor. The Chicago born native appeared on the hit show \u201cEmpire\u201d as FBI Agent Tariq Cousins, the half-brother of Lucious Lyon (played by Terrence Howard). In April 2018, he was acquitted of a misdemeanor domestic battery charge<\/a> in Chicago.<\/p>\n

The Russo Brothers will produce the film with Boseman and his writing and producing partner Logan Coles, while Mike Larocca will serve as the executive producer via their AGBO banner. STXfilms\u2019 Drew Simon and Kate Vorhoff will oversee the film\u2019s production, slated to commence in September.<\/p>\n
