Walt Disney has released the first trailer to the live-action \u201cAladdin,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.<\/p>\n

Directed by Guy Ritchie<\/strong>, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, the film is written by John August<\/strong> and Ritchie based on Disney\u2019s \u201cAladdin.\u201d<\/p>\n

John August<\/strong> adapted the screenplay for the project which will be a part musical with Alan Menken providing the score with new recordings of the original songs he co-wrote with Ashman & Rice, along with two new ones by himself and \u201cLa La Land\u201d songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.<\/p>\n

\u201cAladdin\u201d stars Will Smith<\/strong> as the larger-than-life Genie; Mena Massoud<\/strong> as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott<\/strong> as Jasmine, the beautiful, self-determined princess; Marwan Kenzari<\/strong> as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban<\/strong> as the Sultan concerned with his daughter\u2019s future; Nasim Pedrad<\/strong> as Dalia, Princess Jasmine\u2019s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen<\/strong> as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar<\/strong> as Hakim, Jafar\u2019s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards.<\/p>\n

The film is produced by Dan Lin<\/strong> and Jonathan Eirich<\/strong> with Marc Platt<\/strong> and Kevin De La Noy<\/strong> serving as executive producers. Alan Menken<\/strong> provides the score, which includes new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman<\/strong> and Tim Rice<\/strong> and two new songs written by Menken and songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul<\/strong>.The film, which was shot on practical stages in London and on location amidst the stunning desert vistas of Jordan, has a talented creative team helping to bring Agrabah to life, including: director of photography Alan Stewart, production designer Gemma Jackson and costume designer Michael Wilkinson.<\/p>\n

\u201cAladdin\u201d opens in cinemas on May 24th 2019.<\/p>\n
