Netflix has released a theatrical release date and a new trailer for director Andy Serkis\u2018 upcoming Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle<\/strong>, a fresh take on Rudyard Kipling\u2019s Jungle Book that promises a darker take than the recent Disney movie.<\/p>\n

The film will make its way to theaters in an exclusive limited engagement beginning November 29 in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and London and then launch globally on Netflix December 7.<\/p>\n

Blending live action and performance capture, the story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand<\/strong>) raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often-harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis<\/strong>) and a panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale<\/strong>), Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. (Benedict Cumberbatch<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins. The other story\u2019s central animal characters are: Kaa, the snake (Cate Blanchett<\/strong>); the leader of the wolf pack, Akela (Peter Mullan<\/strong>); the scavenging hyena, Tabaqui (Tom Hollander<\/strong>); Nisha, the female wolf (Naomie Harris<\/strong>), who adopts the baby Mowgli as one of her cubs; Nisha\u2019s mate, Vihaan (Eddie Marsan<\/strong>); and Mowgli\u2019s Brother Wolf (Jack Reynor<\/strong>). Freida Pinto<\/strong> and Matthew Rhy<\/strong>s also star.<\/p>\n

Mowgli is written by Callie Kloves<\/strong> with Serkis directing and co-producing with Steve Kloves.\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n
