Netflix Now Streaming All 8 Seasons of ‘Girlfriends’

There’s a whole new reason to love the coolest day of the week (Friday), thanks to Netflix streaming all eight seasons of ‘Girlfriends’ on its 20th anniversary. The fan favorite series aired from 2000-2008, starting on UPN and then moving to The CW before it was canceled in 2008.

The series follows four close friends living in Los Angeles who challenge and support each other through life’s triumphs and disasters. They come from different backgrounds but learn to create a bond of lasting friendship. Best anniversary gift ever!

Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan) stars in the series along with Golden Brooks (Maya), Persia White (Lynn), and Jill Marie Jones (Toni), who play a group of best friends living in LA.

Netflix announced in July that it had acquired the show along with six other classic comedies led by Black actors. In addition to Girlfriends, Brandy’s Moesha, the first three seasons of The Game, and Sister, Sister are currently streaming as part of the Strong Black Lead programming. The Parkers debuts on Oct. 1, followed by Half & Half and One on One on Oct. 15.
